---

Participants will learn best practices in fundraising, networking, outreach, field, core campaign communications, endorsements, dealing with the media and much more! All of these skills will make you a better and more polished candidate and give you a foundation from which to run a successful campaign!

Participants will also have the opportunity to interact with political professionals and Emerge alumnae who have gone onto run for office.

Emerge embraces diversity and encourages applications from all women who are registered Democrats regardless of age, race, color, national or ethnic origin, marital status, religious affiliation, sexual orientation or physical abilities. Emerge Oregon also expects applicants to hold progressive values, many of which are reflected in the Democratic Party of Oregon platform.

Process

Applications will be due on or before October 17, 2018 and will be reviewed by the executive directors, board members and organizational allies. The application fee of $35 must also be paid in full on or by October 17.

Finalists will be invited to attend an interview. The interview will last approximately 30 minutes and will be scheduled to occur in late October and early November. From these interviews, the program members will be selected and announced by December 15, 2018.

Emerge selects approximately 20 women for our core training program.

Requirements

1) Online Application

2) Two references (via the online application)

3) Application fee - $35, non-refundable

Tuition

Tuition is $450. $100 is immediately due upon acceptance in our program. The remaining portion is due on the first class instruction day.

Emerge Oregon believes that individual financial circumstances should NOT be a barrier to participation in the program. Partial scholarships and payment plans are available to individuals accepted into the program.

Time Commitment

The success of the Emerge Oregon program depends upon commitment to the program's entire schedule by each participant. Emerge Oregon’s program begins in late January, with a kick off event during the evening prior to the first training day in Portland, and will be one or two weekend days a month over seven months.

Most of the classes will take place in Portland, but depending on the geographic makeup of the class, one or two may be held in other locations.

Training dates for the Class of 2019 will be announced in the fall.
