Meet Our New Co-Executive Director!

We have big news to share!

Since our organization’s first class of women in 2009, Emerge Oregon has always had just one staff member. Well, today, after having worked with over 200 women, including nearly 70 just this year – that changes!

We are excited to announce that Andrea Cooper will join forces with Jillian Schoene as Co-Executive Director!

Andrea has worked in Oregon politics for 10 years, most recently as chief of staff to Emerge alumna and House Majority Leader Jennifer Williamson. Prior, Andrea worked for FuturePAC, the political arm of the Oregon House Democrats. In that capacity, Andrea recruited candidates and developed the strategy for state legislative races around the state.

In sharing the news with Emerge Oregon supporters at the Class of 2017 Graduation Celebration event last night, Andrea said, "Since I entered politics a decade ago, I've had strong, talented women who supported me along the way. I'm glad to have the opportunity to join forces with one of those mentors to train - and elect - the next generation of female leaders Oregon's been waiting for. The future for Emerge is bright, and this new opportunity to do more couldn't come at a more important time.”

This isn’t the first time Jillian and Andrea have worked together. Last year, they also shared responsibilities for the Hillary Clinton campaign in Oregon.

Jillian added, “Andrea is one of the most experienced and insightful women working behind the scenes in Oregon politics. I’m so excited to grow the organization over the next year, reaching a capacity that will allow us to do even more for future women elected leaders in the state.”
